From Sketch to Sewing Project!
Okay, so this isn’t the most wonderful thing I’ve ever sewn, but if you’ll momentarily flip back to April 7th, you’ll see that I used that crummy little watercolor as the basis for this work. So, it’s a good thing because I followed through with my intention to make something from that sketch. Cheers for following through with an idea!

This started with a piece of icky white polyester fabric which I colorized using blue fabric paint, watering it down to achieve the gradation. Then I cut out some stars freehand and sewed those on. After attaching the stars, I then decided the panel needed something else to add interest. I scrawled the swirls with a disappearing pen and stitched them with orange thread. I ran two spools on top so it would come out thicker—just setting down the extra spool behind the machine and winding both lines together through tension plates and the needle. Then I had to tie off all the ends. Bleh! I wish I’d decided beforehand that I wanted to make the swirls, it would’ve saved me a heap of time.
I think I’ll end up sewing this into a purse somehow. I envision a boxy sort of purse, and this piece would be the front panel. We shall see!
